Select an exciter

This example shows how to select exciters from driving point residue (DPR) exciter configurations, and remove DOFs on the edge of an airplane wing directly from the DPR matrix plot.

  1. In the Simulation Navigator, expand the Exciter Selection node→Configurations, right-click the DPR node, and choose Select Exciters.

  2. In the Settings group, from the Sorting Mode list, select Maximum.

  3. In the Number of Exciters box, type 9.

  4. In the Plot group, click Plot and click in the graphics window.In this example, the sorting criterion is the maximum DPR for which DOFs 1Z through 5 Z are the preferred DOFs. You can observe the minimum value and sort by the minimum DPR, to eliminate any DOFs with relatively poor minimum DPR values, which indicates that one or more modes are poorly excited.

  5. Choose Results tab→Layout group→Side by Side to display the DPR matrix plot and the model at the same time.

  6. Right-click the matrix plot and select Probing modeSingle XY.

  7. In the matrix plot, right-click the cells that correspond to the nodes you want to display on the model, and choose Highlight Node.In this example, the nodes 1 to 9 are highlighted on the model.

  8. Remove the selected exciters from the edge of the plane wing by right-clicking the selected cells on the DPR matrix and choosing Remove from Exciter Candidates.

  9. Click OK.Notice that the number of candidate DOFs in the Simulation Navigator is automatically updated and the DPR configuration is automatically resolved.
