Specifying non-laminate materials for LS-DYNA models

For FEM files that you create in the LS-DYNA environment, you use options in the Material Option group of appropriate physical property table dialog box to specify the material to assign to the associated elements.

  • To use a material from the Pre/Post library, select the Use Pre/Post Material check box. Then, use the Pre/Post Material list to specify the name of the material to use. For information on defining LS-DYNA materials in Pre/Post, see Creating LS-DYNA materials in Pre/Post.

  • To specify an LS-DYNA material in an external file or in a User Defined Text modeling object, clear the Use Pre/Post Material . Then, type the ID of appropriate keyword into the LS-DYNA Material ID box. You can then manually append the material keyword information to the keyword file, either by using the *INCLUDE keyword and specifying an external file or by referencing a User Defined Text modeling object that contains the information. This option is helpful when you need to specify an LS-DYNA material that is not yet supported in Pre/Post.
