Node Translate dialog box
| Type | |
|---|---|
| Type | Controls how the software translates the nodes.Translate: Moves the selected set of nodes to a new location.Copy and Translate: Copies the selected set of nodes and moves them to a new location. This option only applies to the By Distance and Along Direction methods. |
| Translation Method | |
| Method | Specifies the method by which the software translates the nodes.By Distance: Translates the nodes a specified distance relative to a selected coordinate system.Along Direction: Translates the nodes a specified distance along a selected vector.Align Vectors: Translates the nodes between a source vector and a target vector. The nodes are rotated around the origin of the source vector with a rotation angle that is equal to the angle between the vectors.Point to Point: Translates the location of the nodes from a source point to a target point.Scale Model: Uses specified scale factors to translate the node’s coordinates in the X, Y, and Z directions.By Field : Translates the nodes using results from a previous analysis. For more information, see Translating nodes. |
| By Distance Options | |
| CSYS Type | Specifies the type of coordinate system relative to which to move the nodes. |
| Specify CSYS | Lets you define a local Cartesian, cylindrical, or spherical coordinate system in which to create the nodes.Click CSYS Dialog to use the CSYS dialog box to create the coordinate system.Select a coordinate system creation method from the list to create the coordinate system.See CSYS dialog box for more information. |
| Distance | Controls how you specify the distance to translate the nodes.Choose Per Copy to specify the distance the software should translate each copy of the selected nodes.Choose Total to specify the total distance the software should translate all copies of the selected nodes. |
| DX, DY, DZ****DR, DTheta, DZ****DR, DTheta, DPhi | Depending upon the type of coordinate system you selected, lets you specify the distance along each axis to translate the nodes. |
| Along Direction Options | |
| Specify Vector | Lets you specify a vector along which to translate the nodes. See Vector dialog box for more information. |
| Reverse Direction | Reverses the vector's direction. |
| Distance | Controls how you specify the distance to translate the nodes along the vector.Choose Per Copy to specify the distance the software should translate each copy of the selected nodes.Choose Total to specify the total distance the software should translate all copies of the selected nodes. |
| Distance | Enter the distance to translate the nodes along the vector. |
| Align Vectors options | |
| Specify Vector | For the Align Vectors method, lets you select the source and target points for the translation. The Source Vector is the point from which you want to translate the nodes. The Target Vector is the point to which you want to translate the nodes. |
| Point to Point options | |
| Source Point/Target Point | For the Point to Point method, lets you select the source and target points for the translation. The Source Point is the point from which you want to translate the nodes. The Target Point is the point to which you want to translate the nodes. |
| Scale Model options | |
| CSYS Type | Specifies the type of coordinate system relative to which to move the nodes. |
| Specify CSYS | Lets you define a local Cartesian, cylindrical, or spherical coordinate system in which to create the nodes.Click CSYS Dialog to use the CSYS dialog box to create the coordinate system.Select the coordinate system creation method from the list to create the coordinate system.See CSYS dialog box for more information. |
| Scale X, Scale Y, Scale Z****Scale R, Scale Theta, Scale Z****Scale R, Scale Theta, Scale Phi | Depending upon the type of coordinate system you selected, lets you specify the scale factor to apply to the node’s X, Y, and Z coordinates. |
| Nodes to Translate | |
| Select Node | Lets you select the nodes to move from the graphics window. |
| Node Labels | Lets you add nodes to the selection.Use a space or comma to separate your entries.Use a colon or a dash to add a range of node labels. For example, enter 1:10 or 1-10 to add all the node labels from 1 to 10.Use colons to add an incremented range of node labels. For example, enter:1:9:2 to add node labels 1, 3, 5, 7, 9.1:10:2 to add node labels 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 10.10:1:-2 to add node labels 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1.Press enter or click Select to add your entries. To edit your selection, click Edit Node Selection . |
| Number of Copies | |
| Number of Copies | If you selected Copy and Translate from the Type list, lets you specify the number of copies to create of the selected set of nodes. |
| Label | |
| Label Options | Lets you specify the method to use to define node labels.Choose Label/Increment to specify the starting label to use for the new nodes and the increment between subsequent labels.Choose Offset to offset the starting label to use for the new nodes by a specified value. |
| Label | Lets you specify the starting label for the new nodes. |
| Increment | Lets you specify the increment the software should use for each successive node label. |
| Offset | Lets you specify a value by which to offset the starting label for the new nodes from the current highest node label. |
