Durability Damage Evaluation dialog box
Functions tab
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Add Function | Opens the XY Function Manager dialog box. You can select stress history functions or strain history functions. |
| Functions table | Lists the stress and strain history functions that you select. For each function, the following information is listed in the columns:Number of Occurrences lists how many times the stress or strain history is repeated.Lateral Loading Ratio lists the lateral loading ratio that is stored in the AFU record as a user value. The lateral loading ratio is also called effective biaxiality ratio.Scale lists the scale factor that is applied to the stress or strain range.Record lists the name of the AFU record that contains the stress or strain history data.AFU lists the name and location of the AFU file that contains the stress or strain history data. For each function, you can modify the values for the number of occurrences, the lateral loading ratio, and the scale factor by clicking the corresponding cells or by right-clicking the function and choosing the appropriate command. |
| Remove Function(s) | Removes the selected functions for the functions table. You can also right-click one or more selected functions in the functions table and choose Delete. |
| Peak Valley Tolerance | Sets the minimum amplitude tolerance when counting peak and valley pairs. This tolerance controls the minimum stress or strain amplitude that is computed by the cycle counting algorithm. Use this option to ignore small amplitude cycles that do not contribute significantly to the total damage. |
| Nominal Range Bin Definition | |
| Maximum | Sets the value for the maximum range of the stress or strain. This value is the difference from the maximum stress or strain and the minimum stress or strain. The software populates this value from the stress or strain history function. |
| Number of Bins | Sets the value for the number of nominal range bins for the range-mean matrices of fatigue evaluation results. |
| Customize Nominal Range Bins | Overrides the default distribution of the nominal range bins. The software populates the default values in the table from the stress or strain history function. The nominal range bin table has the number of rows equal to the number of nominal range bins. The following values are listed for each bin:The Bin ID column lists the nominal range bin ID number. The Nominal Range Value column lists the maximum nominal range value for the bin. You can modify this value by clicking in the cell. |
| Mean Bin Definition | |
| Minimum | Sets the value for the minimum stress or strain. The software populates this value from the stress or strain history function. |
| Maximum | Sets the value for the maximum stress or strain. The software populates this value directly from the stress or strain history function. |
| Number of Bins | Sets the value for the number of mean bins for the range-mean matrices of fatigue evaluation results. |
| Customize Mean Bins | Overrides the default distribution of the mean bins. The software populates the default values in the table from the stress or strain history function. The mean bin table has the number of rows equal to the number of mean bins. The following values are listed for each bin:The Bin ID column lists the mean bin ID number. The Lower column lists the minimum mean value for the bin. You can modify this value by clicking in the cell. The Upper column lists the maximum mean value for the bin. You can modify this value by clicking in the cell. |
Fatigue Options tab
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Fatigue durability object list | Lists all available fatigue durability objects. Select the object that you want to use for damage evaluation. |
| Create Fatigue Settings | Lets you create a fatigue durability object to use for damage evaluation. |
| Edit Fatigue Settings | Lets you edit the selected fatigue durability object that you can then use for damage evaluation. |
| Info Fatigue Settings | Displays the settings information of the selected fatigue durability object, in the Information window. |
Other options
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Choose Material | Lets you choose a material for the structural model on which you perform the function-based durability analysis.Note: Make sure that the required durability properties are defined for the selected material. See Material properties for durability analysis for more information. |
| Output | |
| Available when you specify a stress or strain function and choose a material. | |
| Export to Spreadsheet | Opens a spreadsheet application such as Microsoft Excel with the damage evolution results exported to a spreadsheet file. |
| Export to CSV File | Exports the damage evolution results to a CSV file. |
