Common issues when importing a model (Simcenter Samcef)

This topic describes the most common issues you might face when importing a Simcenter Samcef model. It also explains when the import automatically fixes these issues, and when you must take corrective action.

For many issues, a self-explanatory message appears in the Simcenter 3D Information window.

Files generated during the import

File	Description
Simcenter Samcef .dat bank file	The Simcenter Samcef model file that you want to import.The Simcenter Samcef pre-processor analyzes it and creates the .datx parsed XML file, which is ready for import.
Simcenter Samcef .datx file	The XML file that will be imported.
Simcenter Samcef _expnx.log file	The log of the Simcenter Samcef run that analyzes the model to import.

Errors, warnings, and information messages

Tip:

To quickly locate error, warning, and information messages in the log file, search for the percent symbol (%).These messages are preceded by %%%.

Message type	Explanation
Error	A severe problem occurred that, in general, cannot be fixed automatically.Typically, you must either take corrective action in the Simcenter Samcef model and import it again, or you must fix the Simcenter 3D model after the import.In some cases, the import takes corrective action automatically.Example: Error: The functions must be the same for all the components of a Rotation Load. Only one function is imported.
Warning	A problem occurred, but the import took corrective action to fix it.The message describes both the problem and the fix. Most of the time, these warnings reflect data that Simcenter 3D does not support.Example: Warning: Quadratic Mindlin Shell elements are not supported by Simcenter 3D. They have been imported as Quadratic Heterosis Shell elements.
Info	An informative message was generated.This type of message sometimes describes a simple corrective action that the import automatically took. No corrective action is typically needed.Example: Info: Automatic choice of the analysis and solution types has been activated, but no way to do a judicious choice. Default are chosen.

Issues related to the import process
