Post-processing > Graphing results

Create a two function plot

  1. Click Side by Side or Upper and Lower to create a two-viewport display.

  2. Create a post view of each result you want to plot against each other using the contour plot color display. For example, create a contour plot of stress and a contour plot of displacement.

  3. In the graphics window or the Post Processing Navigator, select the first post view, and then hold Ctrl and click to select the second post view.

  4. With both post views selected, choose Results tab→ToolsCreate Graph .

  5. From the Type list, choose On Path or Across Iterations.

  6. In the Define Axes group, specify the OrdinateVsAbscissa for the selected post views.

  7. If the graph type is On Path, specify the Path Definition. From the Define By list:Choose IDs to plot result values against node or element labels.Choose Path Length to plot result values against the length of the path in model units.Choose Length Along Direction to plot result values against the distance along a specified vector. Click Select Vector to specify a vector.Choose Coordinate Value Of CSYS Axis to plot result values against coordinates along a selected coordinate system axis. Click Select CSYS to specify a coordinate system, and then, from the Select CSYS Axis list, choose an axis.

  8. If the graph type is Across Iterations, specify the Start And End Iterations:Select the Start Iteration orStart Load Case.Select theEnd Iteration or End Load Case.Optional: In the Step box, type a step size the skip the specified number of iterations.

  9. If the path definition is Path Length, Length Along Direction, or Coordinate Value Of CSYS Axis, to define the path using a query curve, click the Define by Query Curve check box. Continue with the instructions in Use a query curve.

  10. Select one or more nodes or points to graph. In the Selection group, from the Method list:Choose Pick from Model. From the Pick list, choose a selection method, and select entities in the graphics region.Choose By Entity ID. Type labels in the Entity Label box, and click for each label you enter.Choose Entities in Group. From the Group list, select a predefined group and click .Choose Inferred Point. Interactively select points on feature edges or faces.

  11. Click OK.

  12. If the Viewport dialog bar appears:To display the graph in the Graphics region, click Select Viewport by Cursor and click a viewport. To display the graph in a separate graph window, click Create New Window .
