Post-processing scenarios in Simcenter Samcef

Preconfigured post-processing views, referred to as scenarios, help you visualize some time-dependent composite results of a Simcenter Samcef Nonlinear Analysis. These scenarios help you to select, filter, and shape results data into a format that is easy to interpret.

The scenarios use Data Source files to fetch the results.

You can use a limited selection of Simcenter Samcef composite results to create scenarios.

Depending on the selected results, you can select a component and apply a min/max envelope criteria.

Samcef results supported in scenarios

In the Simcenter Samcef environment, you can create scenarios to display only XY plots for some composite results of a Nonlinear Analysis.

  • You can create scenarios for Interlaminar Stress, Ply Stress, or Ply Strain results.

  • You can create scenarios for Ply Damage Value, Cohesive Damage Value, or Number of Damaged Elements by Ply results.

  • You can create scenarios for Number of Damaged Elements by Cohesive Layer, Number of Damaged Elements, or Number of Plasticized Elements results.

For more details on these results, see Results and filtering criteria for post-processing scenarios in Simcenter Samcef.

Setting up a scenario

You must have loaded structural results in the Simulation Navigator.

Right-click the Structural node and select New Post-Processing Scenario (when you create a scenario for the first time) or Post-Processing Scenario .

The file related to the currently loaded Structural results appears in the Data Sources node of the Scenario Based Data-Visualization Navigator.

About data sources

In the Data Sources node of the Scenario Based Data-Visualization Navigator, you can add results sources that you want to use in scenarios.

In the Simcenter Samcef environment, you can select a Function Plots scenario to visualize XY plots and overlay scenarios to compare results from two sources.
