Contact conditions when chaining solutions (Simcenter Samcef)

When you chain solutions that have contact conditions, you can use the options in the Chaining page of the solution to control how these contacts are passed from one solution to the other.

Solutions where you can control the contacts in a chaining workflow

Current solution Chaining type Description
Modal Modal analysis on a pre-stressed structure You chain a Modal solution with a previous Linear static solution.
Vibration modes around the instantaneous configuration You chain a Modal solution with a previous Nonlinear solution.
Standalone Buckling Stability Analysis on a proportional loading You chain a Standalone buckling solution with a previous Linear static solution.
Incremental Stability Analysis You chain a Standalone buckling solution with a previous Nonlinear solution.

Note:

You can select the chaining types in the Chaining page, Chaining Type group, of the current solution.

Contact controls

Option Description
Contact Control Specifies how the contact conditions defined in the previous solution are handled. Free normal and tangential contact degrees-of-freedom—The status of the contact conditions defined in the previous solution is ignored in the current solution. All the contact degrees of freedom are free.Normal contact d.o.f. depends on contact status in the prerequisite solution—The normal contact status (fixed or free) computed in the previous solution is maintained in the current solution solve.Normal contact and sliding d.o.f. depends on prerequisite solution—The normal and sliding contact status (fixed or free) computed in the previous solution is maintained in the current solution solve.

Note:

You can find the contacts controls in the Chaining page, Contact Control group, of the current solution.
