Materials
Filter the list of materials using a custom filter
You can create a custom filter to control the display of material records in the materials dialog boxes. To illustrate the procedure, the following steps use an example that displays all records that meet this criteria:
Material Name starting with A (such as Aluminum).
Mass Density (RHO) value between –1.0 and 1.0 kg/mm^3.
Open the Assign Material, Manage Materials, or Material Library Manager dialog box.
In the material list, right-click any column heading (as shown in 1 in the following graphic) and select Name→None (Remove All). All records are filtered out and the list is now empty.
Right-click the column heading again and select Name→A*.Now only those records that start with the letter A are displayed in the list.
Right-click the column heading again and select Create Filter. The Define Filter dialog box displays.
In the Name box, type Density between –1.0 and 1.0 (or some other descriptive name).
Define a custom rule to filter out records that have Mass Density (RHO) that is less than –1.0 kg/mm^3.From the Filter Rule list, select Mass Density (RHO).In the operator list for the filter rule, select <.In the value box for the filter rule, enter –1.0. Accept the default units of kg/mm^3.Click Remove items matching this definition .The filter rule is added to the Filter list as – Mass Density(RHO) < –1.0 kg/mm^3.
Define a custom rule to filter out records that have Mass Density (RHO) that is greater than 1.0 kg/mm^3.From the Filter Rule list, select Mass Density (RHO) (this option should still be selected). In the operator list for the filter rule, select >.In the value box for the filter rule, enter 1.0. Accept the default units of kg/mm^3.Click Remove items matching this definition .The filter rule is added to the Filter list as – Mass Density(RHO) > 1.0 kg/mm^3.
Click OK.The filter is created and is applied to the material list immediately. The Mass Density (RHO) filter rule is combined with the standard Name filter rule that you previously applied, so only the records that have Mass Density (RHO) between –1.0 and 1.0 kg/mm^3 and also have a Name starting with the letter A are displayed.
To remove the filters and display all records, right-click any column heading and select Select Filter→Remove All Filters.
