Vibration Input dialog box
| Name - Description | |
|---|---|
| Name | Sets the vibration input definition name. |
| Description | Sets the vibration input definition description. |
| Location | |
| Select Node | Lets you select one or more nodes in the graphics window to use as the location for the vibration input definition. |
| Stacked Smart Selector Methods | Opens the Smart Selector Methods dialog box where you can specify smart selection filters. For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box. |
| Node Labels | Lets you select one or more nodes by their ID.Type the node ID to use as the location for the vibration input definition, and click Select . |
| Direction | |
| CSYS | Specifies the coordinate system in which to specify the node location. |
| Specify CSYS | Appears when you choose Cartesian, Cylindrical, or Spherical from the CSYS list.Lets you define a local Cartesian, cylindrical, or spherical coordinate system.Click CSYS Dialog to specify the coordinate system using the CSYS dialog box.Click to select a coordinate system (CSYS) from the list. For more information, see CSYS dialog box. |
| Definition | |
| Lets you define up to three translational and three rotational vibration inputs in one of the following DOF types, that are assigned to the nodes selected in the Location group and the directions defined in the Direction group.FreeIndicates that the DOF is not constrained, and does not have a function assigned to it.FixedNot available when Modes is set to Read Modal Participation Factors in the Random Data Source dialog box.Instructs the solver to constrain the system at this DOFs.Enforced Motion, Nodal Force, or Nodal MomentEnforced Motion is not available when Modes is set to Read Modal Participation Factors in the Random Data Source dialog box.Lets you select or create: A power spectral density (PSD) function when you define the vibration input for a random event.A spectrum function when you define the vibration input for a harmonic event.Choose Functions →Function Manager to select or create a function using the XY Function Manager dialog box. When you are defining the vibration input for:A random event, you can select from a list of functions that are filtered to display the functions with Abs Measure set to Frequency, and Ord Measure set to:Displacement^2/Hz, Velocity^2/Hz, and Acceleration^2/Hz for translational nodal enforced motions.Angular Displacement^2/Hz, Angular Velocity^2/Hz, and Angular Acceleration^2/Hz for rotational nodal enforced motions.Force^2/Hz for nodal forces.Moment^2/Hz for nodal moments.A harmonic event, you can select from a list of functions that are filtered to display the functions with Abs Measure set to Frequency, andOrd Measure set to:Displacement, Velocity, and Acceleration for translational nodal enforced motions.Angular Displacement, Angular Velocity, and Angular Acceleration for rotational nodal enforced motions.Force for nodal forces.Moment for nodal moments. | |
| Modal Participation Factor Unit Loads | |
| Available when Modes is set to Read Modal Participation Factors in the Random Data Source dialog box.Lets you attach a subcase from the forced response solution results file to each DOF, and specify the unit load used to calculate the modal participation factor, also referred to as modal displacement, in that subcase. Note that the DOFs that are set to Free in the Definition group are not available. For each excited DOF, you can:Specify a subcase available in the forced response solution results file, which you specify in the parent random data source. The subcase must contain modal participation factors corresponding with this excited DOF.View the load type that is used in the forced response solution file for calculating the modal participation factor. The load type assigned to a modal participation factor subcase must match the type that you specify for that DOF in the Definition group .Set the unit load used in calculation for the selected subcase. The available unit conversion options depend on the selected load type. |
