Lock an inherited material property

When you create a material by copying another material definition, any inherited material properties will be updated whenever the parent material record is changed. You can lock selected material properties so that changes in the parent material definition are not updated in the child material.

  1. In the Materials dialog box (for example, after you create a new material by copying a library material), expand the Reset to Defaults group.

  2. From the list of material properties, select the rows that contain the inherited values that you want to lock. Or, click the Select All button to select all rows.

  3. Click Override with inherited value .
