Shell stress resultants
Shell stress resultants are two sets of tensor data:
where
| = the membrane stress resultants | |
|---|---|
| = the transverse shear stress resultants | |
| = the bending stress resultants |
Note:
The preceding information uses Simcenter Nastran component names. The shell stress resultant component names that appear in Pre/Post post-processing do not match the component names that appear in the Simcenter Nastran result files. The Pre/Post component names correspond to Simcenter Nastran shell stress resultant component names as follows:
| Response Dynamics | Simcenter Nastran |
|---|---|
| NXX | FX |
| NYY | FY |
| NXY | FXY |
| MXX | MX |
| MYY | MY |
| MXY | MXY |
| QXZ | QX |
| QYZ | QY |
The output responses are in the element or material coordinate system, and the direction of the loading axis will be stored in the function ID lines.
Response Dynamics calculates elemental response functions of shell stress resultants only at nodes where corresponding modes data exists. There are eight data components per node where the modes exist on one element.
The output responses are in the element coordinate system, and the direction of the loading axis is stored in the function ID lines.
