Cutting Options dialog box
| Create Csys | |
|---|---|
| CSYS Type | Defines the cutting plane as a surface relative to the specified coordinate system. Select or create an absolute (global) or local Cartesian, cylindrical, or spherical coordinate system. |
| CSYS Selected | Appears when you set CSYS Type to Cartesian, Cylindrical, or Spherical. Lets you create or select a local coordinate system.See CSYS dialog box for more information. |
| Axis | Select the axis of the coordinate system along which to define the cutting plane. |
| Clip Position | |
| Clip by Reference Node/Clip by Reference Element | Specifies the location of the cutting plane based on a node or element depending on the type of results. |
| Method | Specifies how to select the reference node or element.Pick from ModelLets you select a node or element in the graphics window to use as the location of the cutting plane. By Node ID/By Element IDLets you select a node or element by its label ID to use as the location of the cutting plane. |
| Node Label/Element Label | Appears when Method is set to By Node ID or By Element ID.Type the node or element ID to use as the location of the cutting plane and click Apply ID String to select the specified node or element. |
| Select Node/Select Element | Lets you select the node or element in the graphics window to use as the location of the cutting plane. |
| Clear Highlights | Appears when the Clip by Reference Node check box is selected.Removes the ID from the graphics window. |
| Clear Selection | Appears when the Clip by Reference Node check box is selected.Deselects the selected node or element. |
| Plane location text box and slider | Available when the Clip by Reference Node/Clip by Reference Element check boxes are cleared.Specifies the distance of the cutting plane along the selected axis. Type a value in the text box or drag the slider to interactively control the cutting plane location. |
| Clip Side | Specifies the cutting plane side using the following options:PositiveClips the model on the on the positive side of the cutting plane axis.NegativeClips the model on the on the negative side of the cutting plane axis. BothClips both sides of the model, displaying only results that lie on the cutting plane. |
| Show Ghost | Displays a translucent model where the original model has been cut away. Note: If translucency is not enabled, the ghost display is opaque, obscuring the cutting plane.To enable translucency, choose Preferences→Visualization. Click the Visual tab and select Translucency check box. |
| Show Edges | Displays an outline of the model where the original model has been clipped away. |
| Show Preview | Immediately updates the graphics window. When enabled, you can drag the slider and interactively view interior results in real time. |
