Contact Interference dialog box (Abaqus)
| Type | |
|---|---|
| Type | Specifies the face pair creation method to use to identify the contacting surfaces at which the allowable interference should apply.Automatic PairingCreates face pairs automatically using the Create Automatic Face Pairs dialog box.ManualLets you create face pairs manually by selecting a Master Surface and a Slave Surface. |
| Destination Folder | |
| Constraint Container | Specifies the folder in the Simulation Navigator in which the boundary condition will be stored. The list includes the root container and existing folders that you created using the New Folder command. Examples of a root container include Load Container, Constraint Container, and Simulation Object Container. |
| Folder Manager | Displays a hierarchical listing of existing folders. To create a new folder, right-click any level of the hierarchy and choose New Folder. |
| Automatic Face Pair Creation | |
| Face Pairs | Appears when the face pair creation method is set to Automatic Pairing.Opens the Create Automatic Face Pairs dialog box, which enables you to specify face pair generation properties, preview face pairs, and generate face pairs automatically. |
| Master Surface/Slave Surface | |
| Master Surface/Slave Surface | Appears when the face pair creation method is set to Manual.Lets you select the Region that defines the contacting (master) and contacted (slave) surface in the contact pair. The master face defines the direction for the contacts that get created.Note: The master and the slave surfaces must contain the same type of entity (that is, faces, element faces, and so on).Select an existing region or click New Region to create a new region. See Region dialog box. |
| Swap Regions | |
| Reverses the master and slave surfaces. | |
| Magnitude | |
| Options | Defines options to control the interference fit.Select None if you do not want to specify any optional parameters. With this option, you can apply a single, non-varying allowable interference value to apply to the contacting surfaces.Select AMPLITUDE to define a time-varying allowable contact interference by creating an amplitude curve. You can also specify a Scale Factor to apply to the field. For more information, see Fields or Amplitude curves in the Abaqus Analysis User's Guide.Select SHRINK to use the Abaqus automatic shrink fit capability in the first step of the analysis. You should only use the SHRINK option in the first step of an analysis. If you select SHRINK, you do not specify an Allowable Interference value. |
| Allowable Interference | Lets you specify the allowable interference between the contacting surfaces. |
| Specify Field | Appears when Options is set to AMPLITUDE.Lets you create a field that defines the amplitude curve in time-varying allowable contact interference definitions. You can use a table-based field to define the amplitude curve as a table of values at points on the time scale. See Amplitude curves in the Abaqus Analysis User's Guide for more information. |
| Scale Factor | Appears when Value is set to **Field.**Scales the values in the field you use to define the amplitude curve by the specified value. |
| Boundary Condition Generation | |
| Associate to Automatic Pair Recipe | Appears when the face pair creation method is set to Automatic Pairing.Specifies whether automatically generated face pairs are associated with the automatic pair recipe. The automatic pair recipe is the set of parameters on the Create Automatic Face Pairs dialog box that determine how to compute and group face pairs. When this option is selected, the generated pairs appear in the Simulation Navigator with the prefix Auto. If the master part updates, the software recalculates the face pairs and updates the Contact Interference definition. When this option is cleared, the generated contact pairs are not associated with the face pair recipe. If the master part updates, the software does not update the contact pairs. These contact pairs behave the same as manually created pairs. |
