Creating Interpolated Constraint (RSPLINE) elements

You can create and modify Nastran RSPLINE elements in Pre/Post. In the Simcenter 3D Multiphysics environment, the RSPLINE element is named the Interpolated Constraint Element.

An RSPLINE element is a 1D elastic interpolation element that you can use to connect 2 to 100 nodes. The software interpolates the displacements for intermediate nodes from the equations of an elastic beam passing through the nodes. RSPLINE elements are useful, for example, for a transition between a coarser and a finer mesh.

  • You can use the D/L option in the Mesh Associated Data dialog box to specify the ratio of the diameter of the elastic tube to the sum of the lengths of all segments.

  • You can use the Interpolation Constraint options in the Element Associated Data dialog box to specify which degrees of freedom to constrain for the dependent nodes of the RSPLINE element.

For more information on RSPLINE elements, see RSPLINE in the Simcenter Nastran Quick Reference Guide.
