Thermal Rotational Periodicity dialog box (Thermal/SST/ESC/Multiphysics)
| Type | |
|---|---|
| Type | Specifies the type of thermal rotational periodicity.ConductiveDefines a conductive thermal rotational periodicity.RadiativeDefines a radiative thermal rotational periodicity on the complete model. |
| Name | |
| Name | Sets the name for the thermal rotational periodicity simulation object. The name appears in the Simulation Navigator and graphics window. |
| Description | Specifies a description for the thermal rotational periodicity simulation object. |
| Destination Folder | |
| Simulation Object Container | Specifies the folder in the Simulation Navigator in which the boundary condition will be stored. The list includes the root container and existing folders that you created using the New Folder command. Examples of a root container include Load Container, Constraint Container, and Simulation Object Container. |
| Folder Manager | Displays a hierarchical listing of existing folders. To create a new folder, right-click any level of the hierarchy and choose New Folder. |
| Master Region / Slave Region | |
| Appear when Type is set to Conductive. The software sets the temperature on the elements of the slave region to the temperature values of the corresponding elements of the master region. | |
| Group Reference | Applies the boundary condition to the selected group. For more information, see Group Reference options. |
| Select Object | Lets you select elements or polygon geometry to define master and slave periodicity faces.Excluded lets you remove elements from within your selected object. The software does not apply the boundary condition to excluded elements.Note: The Element Selection Filtering options are available when the Type Filter list on the Top Border bar is set to Elements. |
| Stacked Smart Selector Methods | Opens the Smart Selector Methods dialog box where you can specify a progression of smart selection filters. For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box. |
| Region | |
| Appears when Type is set to Radiative. | |
| Select Object | Selects automatically the complete model. |
| Stacked Smart Selector Methods | Opens the Smart Selector Methods dialog box where you can specify a progression of smart selection filters. For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box. |
| Periodicity Specification | |
| Appears when Type is set to Radiative. | |
| Periodicity | Specifies how the periodicity is defined.Number of SectorsDefines the number of sectors that are needed to do one revolution. You set the value in the Number of Sectors box. The thermal solver computes the sector angle by dividing 360° by the specified value.Sector AngleDefines the sector angle. You define the value in the Sector Angle box. The thermal solver computes the number of sectors by dividing 360° by the specified value. |
| Revolve Axis | |
| Type | Specifies the axis around which the model revolves.Global Cyclic AnalysisAppears if you defined the cyclic symmetry cylindrical coordinate system in the FEM. Revolves the model around the Z-axis of the cyclic symmetry cylindrical coordinate system. Global(Simcenter 3D Multiphysics only) Revolves the model around the axis that you specified for the 2D Solid Option in the Solution dialog box, when you created the solution.User-DefinedLets you specify the axis around which the model revolves. Use the Specify Vector options to specify the direction of revolution, and use the Specify Point options to specify the location of the axis. |
| Additional Parameters | |
| Coupling Resolution | Controls the accuracy of the coupling. The software subdivides primary elements according to the specified coupling resolution before it determines conductances. One to OneCalculates a single conductance from each primary element to the nearest secondary element.Coarse through FinestSubdivides each primary element into a progressively larger number of sub-elements.The finer subdivision level does not always produce more accurate results. |
| Only Connect Overlapping Elements | Controls how the software establishes the conductances between the selected elements. |
| Overlap Projection Direction | Available when the Only Connect Overlapping Elements is selected.Controls whether the normal of the primary or secondary elements is used to calculate the area of overlap. |
