Constrained Keywords
| Type | Lets you select the LS-DYNA keyword to define.CONSTRAINED_NODE_SETDefines sets of nodes that are constrained in their translational degrees of freedom.CONSTRAINED_NODAL_RIGID_BODYDefines a nodal rigid body. The software uses the equations of rigid body dynamics to update the motion of the nodes. You can also define rotations of the nodal sets The software calculates mass properties from the nodal masses and coordinates. CONSTRAINED_EXTRA_NODESDefines additional nodes for the rigid body. You can define extra nodes anywhere in the model, even outside of the rigid body. The software assumes that these nodes are part of the rigid body. You can define extra nodes, for example, to define the location where joints will connect rigid bodies or to specify a lumped mass at a specific location. |
|---|---|
| Destination Folder | |
| Constraint Container | Specifies the folder in the Simulation Navigator in which the boundary condition will be stored. The list includes the root container and existing folders that you created using the New Folder command. Examples of a root container include Load Container, Constraint Container, and Simulation Object Container. |
| Folder Manager | Displays a hierarchical listing of existing folders. To create a new folder, right-click any level of the hierarchy and choose New Folder. |
| Model Objects | |
| Group Reference | Lets you apply the constraint to a group. For more information, see Group Reference options. |
| Select Object | Lets you select the geometry, mesh points, or nodes to which to apply the constraint.Use the Excluded options to remove individual entities, such as edges, from your selection. |
| Stacked Smart Selector Methods | Opens the Smart Selector Methods dialog box where you can specify a progression of smart selection filters. For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box. |
| Keyword Name | Displays the name of the associated LS-DYNA keyword. |
Constrained Node Set options
| Translational Motion Degrees of Freedom | |
|---|---|
| DOFX , DOFY, DOFZ | Constrains the nodes in the specified translational degrees-of-freedom.Off: Allows no movement in the DOF.On: Allows free movement in the DOF |
| All On | Sets all DOF to on. |
| All Off | Sets all DOF to off. |
| Property | |
| Failure Time | Defines the time at which the nodal constraint set becomes inactive. After the Failure Time, the nodes can move freely. |
Constrained Nodal Rigid Body options
| *Independent Object (First Node of SET_NODE) | |
|---|---|
| Select Object | Lets you select the interpolation node. |
| Stacked Smart Selector Methods | Opens the Smart Selector Methods dialog box where you can specify a progression of smart selection filters. For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box. |
| *Dependent Objects (Second Node and Up of SET_NODE) | |
| Select Object | Lets you specify the dependent nodes. If you specify multiple nodes, the software writes out the *SET_NODE_LIST keyword. |
| Stacked Smart Selector Methods | Opens the Smart Selector Methods dialog box where you can specify a progression of smart selection filters. For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box. |
| Rigid Body Orientation | |
| Rigid Body CSYS | Lets you specify the local coordinate system that defines the orientation of the rigid body. |
| Degrees of Freedom (DRFLAG,RRFLAG) | |
| DOF1, DOF1, DOF3, DOF4, DOF5, DOF6 | Constrains the nodes in the specified degrees-of-freedom.Off: Allows no movement in the DOF.On: Allows free movement in the DOF |
| All On | Sets all DOF to on. |
| All Off | Sets all DOF to off. |
| Rigid Body Physical Property Tables | |
| LS-DYNA Parts | Opens the Physical Property Table Manager dialog box so that you can select the part ID of the rigid body. |
| Keyword Option | |
| Optional Properties | Lets you specify a Constrained Nodal rigid Body Optional modeling object that you can use to specify additional options. |
Constrained Extra Nodes options
| Extra Nodes for Rigid Body option is selected. | |
|---|---|
| Group Reference | Lets you apply the constraint to a group. For more information, see Group Reference options. |
| Select Object | Lets you select the extra nodes to add to the rigid body. |
| Stacked Smart Selector Methods | Opens the Smart Selector Methods dialog box where you can specify a progression of smart selection filters. For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box. |
| LS-DYNA Parts (Physical Property Tables) | |
| Property | Opens the Physical Property Table Manager dialog box so that you can select the part ID of the rigid body. |
| Update Inertia Properties After Merge | |
| IFLAG | Controls whether the software updates the inertia properties Note: This option only applies if you define the inertia properties of the part ID with the *PART_INERTIA option. |
| Keyword Name | If you select a single node, the software writes out the *CONSTRAINED_EXTRA_NODES_NODE keyword. If you select multiple nodes, the software writes out the *CONSTRAINED_EXTRA_NODES_SET keyword. |
