When you choose Automatic, the software uses the following criteria to determine an appropriate numeric format:
| Absolute difference between color bar levels | Resulting numeric format | Example |
|---|---|---|
| < 0.001 | Scientific notation with three decimal places. | 1.235E–003 |
| 0.001 to < 0.01 | Fixed-point notation with four decimal places. | 1234.5678 |
| 0.01 < 1 | Fixed-point notation with three decimal places. | 1234.568 |
| 1 to < 1000 | Fixed-point notation with two decimal places. | 1234.57 |
| 1000 or greater | Scientific notation with two decimal places. | 1.23E+003 |
Note:
When the results are listed in the Post Processing Navigator and not in a contour plot with the color bar levels available, the software uses the absolute value.
