Chaining with a nonlinear solution (Simcenter Samcef)

You can chain an active Nonlinear solution with several other solved solutions. In the solution's Chaining page, you select the solved solution you want to chain with and define the chaining parameters.

General

Option Description
Transfers non symmetrical stiffness and damping matrices (Modal Chaining) Applies when you chain a modal analysis to use the results from a nonlinear analysis.Transfers the non-symmetrical stiffness and damping matrices from the nonlinear analysis to the modal analysis, and activates the non-symmetric solver. For more information, see the MATSYM parameter of the Samcef .ALGO command.
Activate Chaining Activates chaining.
Chaining Type Specifies the chaining type:Initial Imperfection for non-linear analysis—Performs a Nonlinear solution with initial imperfection condition.Chained thermal-structural analysis—Performs a classic Heat Transfer - Nonlinear chaining.Chained thermal-structural analysis with dissimilar mesh—Performs a Nonlinear solution after a Mapping solution.
Source Type Lets you select a Solution already defined in the current model to chain with, or an External File Simcenter Samcef binary file (.u18) to extract chaining data from.

Initial Imperfection for non-linear analysis chaining type

The Initial Imperfection for non-linear analysis chaining type chains a buckling analysis with a nonlinear one. In the active nonlinear solution, you select the buckling mode that will become the initial imperfection condition for the nonlinear solving.

Option Description
Mode Shape Number Lets you select the buckling mode to take into account in the chaining. For more details, see the NDEF parameter of the .SAM Samcef command.
Mode Shape Amplitude Lets you define the mode shape amplitude to apply to this buckling mode. For more details, see the ADEF parameter of the .GEL Samcef command.
Chaining with Solution Available when you select Solution from the Source Type list.Lets you select the buckling solution you want to chain with.
***_st.u18 File** Available when you select External File from the Source Type list.Lets you select a Simcenter Samcef binary buckling results file to use as the source. For more details, see the IFDEF FILE parameters of the .SAM Samcef command.

Chained thermal-structural analysis chaining type

The Chained thermal-structural analysis chaining type chains a thermal analysis with a nonlinear one.

Option Description
Chaining with Solution Available when you select Solution from the Source Type list.Lets you select the thermal solution you want to chain with.
***_mt.u18 File** Available when you select External File from the Source Type list.Lets you select a Simcenter Samcef binary thermal results file to use as the source. For more details, see the IUN FILE parameters of the .SAM Samcef command.

Chained thermal-structural analysis with dissimilar mesh chaining type

The Chained thermal-structural analysis with dissimilar mesh chaining type chains a mapping solution with a nonlinear one. In the active nonlinear solution, you define the reference time at which you want to retrieve the nodal temperatures (and the degree of cure and the glass transition temperatures if any) from the thermal solution. These results become thermal loads.

Option Description
Chaining with Solution Available when you select Solution from the Source Type list.Lets you select the mapping solution you want to chain with.
***.txt File** Available when you select External File from the Source Type list.Lets you select a mapping results text file to use as the source.
