Post-processing > Post processing large models

Create an empty post view

Using the Empty Post View command preference, you can turn on the creation of post views with all meshes initially hidden. You can then selectively display the meshes as needed.

Creating an empty post view is useful for when you want to display very large models that contain multiple meshes, in which the initial display of the results takes considerable time. It is also useful for displaying only a region of interest.

  1. Choose MenuToolsResultsEmpty Post View .

  2. In the Post Processing Navigator, select the results to display. For example, double-click Displacement — Nodal. No results display.

  3. (Optional) Make any desired changes to the post view options. You can edit the post view regardless of whether any meshes are displayed.

  4. In the Post Processing Navigator, expand ViewportsContour Plots. Under the appropriate post view, select the meshes and elements or groups for which to display results.

  5. Turn off the creation of empty post views by selecting the Empty Post View command again (choose MenuToolsResultsEmpty Post View ).
