Exporting finite element data

Once you have prepared your model, you can use the options in the Export Simulation dialog box to export your analysis data to a solver input file. Export Simulation:

• Exports entities in the selected FEM and Simulation files. No geometry or part data is exported.

• Lets you control the location of the input file, as well as the units for the file.

• For Nastran, ANSYS, and Abaqus, you can use options in the Export Simulation dialog box to selectively export aspects of your model. For example, for Abaqus, you can choose to export groups and selection recipes to node and element sets.

You can also create a solver input file from the Solve dialog box. See Solving models for more information.

Specifying options to control the export

You can control how the software writes out the input file for both Nastran and Abaqus.

• For Simcenter Nastran, you can use the options on the Formatting page of the Solver Parameters dialog box to specify options that control how the software writes out the Nastran input file. For example, you can select the Performance check box to make the export process faster and maximize performance. See Solver Parameters dialog box (Nastran) for more information.

• For Abaqus, you can use the Compact when Propagated check box in the Customer Defaults dialog box to control how the software manages the placement of loads and constraints in the input file. For more information, see Controlling compaction of boundary conditions.
