Deactivation Set/Deactivation Set Advanced dialog box (Thermal/Flow/SST/ESC)
| Name | |
|---|---|
| Name | Sets a name for the simulation object. The name appears in the Simulation Navigator and the graphics window.DescriptionSpecifies a description for the simulation object. |
| Destination Folder | |
| Simulation Object Container | Specifies the folder in the Simulation Navigator in which the boundary condition will be stored. The list includes the root container and existing folders that you created using the New Folder command. Examples of a root container include Load Container, Constraint Container, and Simulation Object Container. |
| Folder Manager | Displays a hierarchical listing of existing folders. To create a new folder, right-click any level of the hierarchy and choose New Folder. |
| Region/Top Side Region (Deactivate Radiation)/Bottom Side Region (Deactivate Radiation) | |
| Region is available for all options in the Deactivation Options group. Use it for all options except when Radiation Option is set to Deactivate All Radiation or Deactivate for Solar.Top Side Region (Deactivate Radiation) and Bottom Side Region (Deactivate Radiation) appear when Radiation Option is set to Deactivate All Radiation or Deactivate for Solar. You can select the geometry or elements for the top side, for the bottom side, or for both the top and bottom sides. | |
| Group Reference | Lets you apply the region to deactivate to a group. For more information, see Group Reference options. |
| Select Object | Lets you select either the geometry associated with the elements to deactivate or the elements themselves.Element Selection Filtering lets you limit your element selection to the FE entity you select from the Filter Type list:Elements lets you select any element type in a single selection.Element Edges lets you select 1D elements, the edges of 2D, or 3D elements.Element Faces lets you select 2D elements or the faces of 3D elements.Caution: You must select Element from the main selection Type Filter list to use the Element Selection Filtering options.Excluded lets you remove individual entities from within your selected object. |
| Stacked Smart Selector Methods | Opens the Smart Selector Methods dialog box where you can specify a progression of smart selection filters. For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box. |
| Deactivation Options | |
| Eliminate from Solution | Available for thermal or coupled thermal-flow solutions.Removes all selected elements from any calculation by the solvers. |
| Eliminate from 3D Flow Solution | Available for flow or coupled thermal-flow solutions.Removes all selected elements from any 3D flow calculation by the solver. |
| Do not Convect | Available for flow or coupled thermal-flow solutions.Removes all selected elements from any convection calculation by the solvers. |
| Deactivate Radiation | Available for thermal or coupled thermal-flow solutions.Removes all selected elements from any radiation calculation by the solver. |
| Radiation Option | Appears when Deactivate Radiation is selected.Specifies how the software deactivates the radiation calculations for the selected elements.Deactivate All RadiationDeactivates elements for all radiation calculations. They cannot emit, reflect, or block radiation.Deactivate for ShadowingPrevents the selected elements from blocking radiation. With this option, the elements are not considered in view factor shadowing checks. However, the elements are still modeled as emitting and reflecting radiation (view factors are calculated for them). This option lets you reduce radiation model solution time by disabling shadowing checks for elements which you know do not shadow (e.g. elements on the surface of a uniformly concave enclosure).Deactivate for SolarDeactivates the solar, albedo, and Earth view factors for the selected elements. It is available only in the Deactivation Set Advanced dialog box. |
