Fluid-Structure Interface Parameters dialog box (MSC Nastran)
Use the options in this dialog box to define the parameters that define the nodes and elements the lie at the interface between the structural mesh and the fluid mesh.
| Modeling Object | |
|---|---|
| Name | Sets the name of the modeling object. |
| Label | Sets a unique numerical identifier for the modeling object. |
| Properties | |
| Description | Sets a description for this modeling object. Type a brief description or click to open a text editor, where you can enter a longer description. |
| Card Name | Displays the name of the associated Nastran bulk data entry. The options in this dialog box correspond to the fields that define the ACMODL bulk data entry for MSC Nastran. For more information, see ACMODL in the MSC Nastran Quick Reference Guide. |
| Analysis Method (METHOD) | Specifies the search algorithm to use to define the interface.Body in White—Closed Pressure Vessel— |
| Type of Interface (INTER) | Specifies the type of structure-fluid interface.Non-Matching—Specifies that the interface is non-matching.Matching— Specifies that the interface is matching. |
| Search Parameters | |
| Search Units (SRCHUNIT) | Available when Analysis Method (METHOD) is set to Body in White.Controls whether the search units are in absolute model units or relative model units based on element size. |
| Fluid Normal Tolerance (NORMAL) | Determines the height of the fluid box in the outward normal direction to the fluid surface. |
| Fluid Skin Growth Tolerance (SKNEPS) | Available when Analysis Method (METHOD) is set to Body in White. Specifies the tolerance that represents the enlargement of the plane of the fluid surface used to define the search box. |
| Secondary Fluid Skin Growth Tolerance (DSKNEPS) | Available when Analysis Method (METHOD) is set to Body in White.Specifies the tolerance that represents a secondary enlargement of the plane of the fluid surface used to define the search box if the Fluid Skin Growth Tolerance (SKNEPS) fails to find any structural elements. |
| Inward Normal Search Distance (INTOL) | Available when Analysis Method (METHOD) is set to Body in White.Specifies the inward normal search distance to detect the fluid-structure interface. The software uses the angular tolerance in degrees to determine whether a fluid free face and a structural face overlap. |
| Structure Coupling (ALLSSET) | Available when Analysis Method (METHOD) is set to Body in White.Controls which structural interface elements are coupled. |
| Interface Entities | |
| Interface Entities | Specifies the type of entity to define the fluid part of the fluid-structural interface.None—Specifies none of the nodes or elements. All —Specifies all nodes or elements. Nodes — Specifies the fluid nodes either to include in the interface or to remove from the interface.Elements — Specifies the fluid elements either to include in the interface or to remove from the interface. |
| Specify Fluid Interface (FSET) | Available if Analysis Method (METHOD) is set to Body in White, Type of Interface (INTER) is set to Non-Matching and Interface Entities is set to Nodes or Elements.Controls whether you specify nodes or elements that lie on the fluid part of the fluid-structural interface. |
| Specify Structural Interface (SSET) | Available if Analysis Method (METHOD) is set to Body in White, Type of Interface (INTER) is set to Non-Matching and Interface Entities is set to Nodes or Elements.Controls whether you specify nodes or elements that lie on the structural part of the fluid-structural interface. |
| Fluid Nodes on the Fluid Skin Selection | |
| Available when the Specify Fluid Interface (FSET) and Structural Interface (SSET) check box is selected. | |
| Group Reference | Lets you select one or more groups that contain the nodes on the fluid skin. For more information, see Group Reference options. |
| Select Object | Lets you select nodes. |
| Stacked Smart Selector Methods | Opens the Smart Selector Methods dialog box where you can specify a progression of smart selection filters to select the appropriate nodes. For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box. |
