View imported complex test mode shapes
This example shows how to animate complex acceleration mode shapes that are imported from test data of a bicycle frame.
When you import the complex modal test data, in the Import Modal Test Data or Solution dialog box, from the Complex Mode Conversion list, select None.
In the Simulation Navigator, right-click the test solution result node and choose Open. The Post Processing Navigator opens.
Expand the result solution node and one mode node. Solution 1 Mode 1, 8.361e+001 Hz Mode 2, 1.660e+002 Hz Mode 3, 1.861e+002 Hz Acceleration – Nodal Mode 4, 2.363e+002 Hz
Double-click the Acceleration – Nodal node.Your model could have Displacement – Nodal node instead of Acceleration – Nodal node.
In the Post Processing Navigator, right-click the Post View node under the Viewports→Contour Plots node and choose Set Result. The Result dialog box opens.
From the Complex list, select At Phase Angle.
(Optional) Type a value for the phase angle.
Click OK.
Choose Results tab→Animation group→Animate .The Animation dialog box opens.
From the Style list, select Modal.
Click OK.As you view the animation, you can visually assess if all nodes of the mode shape pass through the equilibrium position at about the same time. If they do, it indicates that the mode does not exhibit a high degree of complexity.
Choose Results tab→Animation group→Stop to stop the animation.
