Cone Primitive dialog box (SST)

Common options

Option Description
Element Type Lists the supported 2D element types.
Destination Collector
Mesh Collector Lets you select an existing collector. Click New Collector to use the Mesh Collector dialog box to create additional mesh collectors. See Mesh collectors for more information.
Definition
By Controls the definition method:Parameters: Lets you define the cone by assigning values to parameters in relation to a coordinate system you specify.Points: Lets you define the cone by locating points in space in terms of 3D coordinates.
Mesh Density
Along Circumference Defines the number of elements along the circumferential surface of the cone between the Start Angle and End Angle. At the end of each traversal between circumferential limits the element sequence continues at the Start Angle in the next layer up.
Along Height Defines the number of elements along the vertical height of the cylinder. The number of elements defines the number of layers in the mesh.Note: No mesh is created on the flat circular surface.
Top side faces inward Select the check box to reverse the direction of the surface normals of the 2D elements so that they point inward.

Cone primitive defined by parameters

Option Description
Definition
Coordinate System Lets you create or select a coordinate system. The software uses the origin of the coordinate system as the origin of the cone primitive.See CSYS dialog box for more information.
Height Defines the total height of the cone as a distance from the origin along the Z-axis. The apex of the cone is at the origin.
Height to truncate at Defines a distance from the origin along the Z-axis to truncate the cone to create a frustum. The cone section from the apex to this height is cut away.
Cone Semi Angle Defines the angle (in degrees) made by the generatrix of the cone with the Z-axis to truncate the ellipsoid. The aperture of the cone is twice this value.
Start Angle / End Angle Defines a circumferential segment of the cone body measured from the X-axis. The segment of the cone from the Start Angle to the End Angle defines the circumferential limits of the primitive.Note: The value for Start Longitude must always be less than the value for End Longitude.

Cone primitive defined by points

Option Description
Definition
Apex Lets you select or create a point to define the apex for the cone.Click Point Constructor to use the Point dialog box to create a new point. See Point dialog box for more information.
Base Center Lets you select or create a point to define the center of the base of the cone and the height of the cone from the Apex.Note: This apex of the cone is always at the origin.
Base Radius – start position Lets you select or create a point to define the radius of the base of the cone and the aperture of the cone. It also defines the starting location in the circumferential direction for the segment of the cone surface included in the primitive.
Truncate Tip Lets you define an offset limit from the Apex along the axis from which the cone section is created. The section of the cone from the Apex to Top Center along the axis is cut away.
Top Center Lets you select or create a point to define the distance from the Apex of the cone which will decide the section of the cone in the direction of its axis to be kept.
