Enhanced Damage Ply Material definition dialog box (Simcenter Samcef)

In the Orthotropic material dialog box, select the Damage page to define the Samcef damage ply material parameters.

If you select Enhanced UD Ply Damage (NCF), you can enter the material parameters related to the Samcef Enhanced Damage Ply material.

For more information, see the Samcef material page.

Enhanced UD Ply Damage Version Lets you choose between the PLYENH or PLYENH2 damage version.

Fiber Damage

Maximum Damage Value (dmax) Lets you specify the fibers maximum damage value. For more information, see the DDEN parameter of the Samcef Enhanced Damage Ply material.
Energy Threshold of Fiber Direction 1 (Y11lim+) Energy Threshold of Fiber Direction 1 (Y11lim-) Lets you specify the breaking thresholds in traction (+) and compression (-) respectively. For more information, see the YS11 parameter of the Samcef Enhanced Damage Ply material.

Diffuse damage

Energy Threshold in Diffuse Damage (Y012) Lets you specify the fiber versus matrix debonding threshold. For more information, see the Y012 parameter of the Samcef Enhanced Damage Ply material.
Diffuse Damage Critical Value (YC12) Lets you specify the critical thermodynamic force. For more information, see the YC12 parameter of the Samcef Enhanced Damage Ply material.
Maximum Damage Value (ds) Lets you specify the maximum diffuse damage.Note: If you specify a value for this parameter, you also must provide a value for the Maximum Damage Value (dmax) one.For more information, see the DDEN parameter of the Samcef Enhanced Damage Ply material.

Transverse damage

Ply Fracture Toughness (GIc) Ply Fracture Toughness (GIIc) Ply Fracture Toughness (GIIIc) Lets you specify the critical energy release rates (fiber direction, transverse direction, and out-of-plane direction). For more information, see the GC parameter of the Samcef Enhanced Damage Ply material.
Maximum Transverse Micro-cracking Damage (R01) Lets you specify the maximum crack damage. For more information, see the R01 parameter of the Samcef Enhanced Damage Ply material.
Transition Thickness (HBAR) Lets you specify the transition thickness. For more information, see the HBAR parameter of the Samcef Enhanced Damage Ply material.

Damage variables coupling coefficients

The damage variables can be coupled by specific coefficients.

Coupling Coefficient (b2) Lets you specify the b2 coupling coefficient.
Coupling Coefficient (b3) Lets you specify the b3 coupling coefficient.
Coupling Coefficient (a) Lets you specify the coupling coefficient between the damage and the plasticity.
Coupling Coefficient (k) Lets you specify the k coupling coefficient.
Coupling Coefficient (alpha) Lets you specify the alpha rupture envelope coefficient.

Note:

If you specify a non-zero value for b3, you must specify a value for b2. If you specify a non-zero value for a, both b3 and b2 must be defined.

The same cascading rule applies for k coefficient against a, b3, and b2, and for alpha coefficient against k, a, b3, and b2.

For more information, see the DCOU parameter of the Samcef Enhanced Damage Ply material.

Time delay effect law

Time for Delay (TAU) Parameter for Delay (ADEL) Lets you define the two parameters that drive the time delay effect law. If TAU is zero, there is no time delay effect. For more information, see the TAU and ADEL parameters of the Samcef Enhanced Damage Ply material.
Strategy Parameter for Plasticity (USER) Lets you choose between Plasticity when fully damaged and No Plasticity when fully damaged. The No Plasticity when fully damaged limits the damage to the Maximum Damage Value (dmax) maximum value before taking time delay into account. For more information, see the USER parameter of the Samcef Enhanced Damage Ply material.

Nonlinearities in traction and compression

Non-linear Coefficient for Fiber Direction 1 (Ksi+) Non-linear Coefficient for Fiber Direction 1 (Ksi-) Lets you define the nonlinearity coefficients in traction (+) and compression (-) respectively. For more information, see the YNLE parameter of the Samcef Enhanced Damage Ply material.

Coupling with plasticity

Initial Plastic Threshold (LITK) Lets you define the initial plasticity threshold. For more information, see the LITK parameter of the Samcef Enhanced Damage Ply material.
Parameter of Plastic Law (BIGK) Lets you define the K experimental parameter of the plasticity law.For more information, see the BIGK parameter of the Samcef Enhanced Damage Ply material.
Exponent of Plastic Law (EXPN) Lets you define the γ plasticity law exponent. For more information, see the EXPN parameter of the Samcef Enhanced Damage Ply material.

Non Local Parameter (advanced)

Strategy Parameter for Plasticity (USER) Lets you specify the Samcef USER parameter of the law.Plasticity when fully damagedMatches the USER 0 definition in the Samcef Enhanced Damage Ply material documentation. No Plasticity when fully damagedMatches the USER 1 definition in the Samcef Enhanced Damage Ply material documentation.Note: This parameter is reserved for advanced uses of this material.
Non Local Parameter (QYT) Lets you specify the non-local diffusion radius related to the Non Local Behavior of the Solid Laminate Property. For more information, see the QYT parameter of the Samcef Enhanced Damage Ply material.
