VATV set in a vibro-acoustic solution workflow

Simcenter Nastran stores vibro-acoustic transfer vector (VATV) matrices, which link the normal force on a structural node of a flexible structure with the acoustic pressure on a microphone node, from a SOL 108 or SOL 111 Vibro-Acoustic Transfer Vector solution in the simulation_file_name-solution_name_-_vatv.op2 result file.

To use VATV matrices in a simulation, you replace the component FEM or assembly FEM with a VATV set. You can use a VATV set in a SOL 108 Vibro-Acoustic Transfer Vector Response solution to generate a vibro-acoustic response.

Note:

For a workflow that creates a VATV set, see VATV set workflow.

Step Summary Detailed help topic
1. Open a Simulation file. Open an existing Simulation file that contains a component FEM or assembly FEM file. The Simulation file can be the same one that was used for computing the VATV set. Simulation fileCreate a new Simulation file
2. Replace the FEM component or assembly FEM with the VATV set by editing the FEM representation. Right-click the component FEM or assembly FEM that you will use as a VATV set and choose Edit Representation. Replace different FEM files with an ATV set or VATV set
3. Create a new solution. Set the Solver to Nastran, the Analysis Type to Vibro-acoustic, the Solution Type to SOL 108 Vibro-Acoustic Transfer Vector Response and create a .Subcase - Frequency Response or Subcase - Random. Solutions and solving
4. Create output requests. Request the desired output, such as acoustic pressure, power, and so on. Requesting output for Nastran analyses
8. Create applied forces, frequency excitation, or the frequency range. Define the desired forces, frequency excitations, or solution frequency range. Define the frequency range and number of modes to solve
9. Solve the model. Solve the model to generate the VATVs results.During this step, Simcenter Nastran writes the results to a simulation_file_name-solution_name.op2 file. Solve the model
10. Post-process the results. Select the vibro-acoustic results and choose Post-processing Scenario. Scenario-based post-processing

Note:

  • If you want to compute the response for a new VATV Set that, for example, contains different forcing frequencies, you reference the new VATV set in the FE Model Component Representation dialog box or simulation_file_name-solution_name_vatv.op2 file in the Vibro-Acoustic Transfer Vector Set dialog box.

  • The VATV response analysis can use only one VATV set at a time.
