Options for importing fields when naming conflicts exist
A naming conflict arises when you import a field whose name is the same as an existing field. When a naming conflict exists, you have the following options to resolve the naming conflict:
Retain the name of the existing field and rename the field that you are importing by appending an integer to the field name. For example, if the existing field is named Table Field(1) and you import a file that contains a field named Table Field(1), the software retains the existing field as Table Field(1) and renames the imported field as Table Field(2).
Retain the name of the existing field and rename the field that you are importing by prepending a text string to the field name. For example, if the existing field is named Table Field(1), the prepend text is Imported Field, and you import a file that contains a field named Table Field(1), the software retains the existing field as Table Field(1) and renames the imported field as Imported Field Table Field(1).
Replace the existing field with the field that you are importing.
Replace the existing field with the field that you are importing and create backup copies of the originals. For example, if the existing field is named Table Field(1) and you import a file that contains a field named Table Field(1), the software retains the imported field as Table Field(1) and renames the original as Table Field(1) Backup.
