Point mesh controls

Use the Point type of Mesh Control to create a local element size within a radius around a selected point, mesh point, or vertex. You can specify:

• The element size at the specified point.

• The radius around the specified point in which to use that element size.

Create a Point mesh control, for example, when you want to specify an element size at a vertex that does not affect the size of the elements along the edges connected by that vertex.

Spot Weld mesh controls

When you create a Point type of Mesh Control, you can select the Spot Weld check box to create a special mesh pattern around selected mesh point locations.

A series of mesh points that indicate spot weld locations.	The resulting 2D mesh when Point mesh controls with the Spot Weld option are defined at those mesh point locations.

The spot weld mesh is a paved and predominantly quadrilateral mesh that is typically comprised of two or more layers of elements. You can use options to specify:

• The size of the elements in each layer of elements (Total Layer Depth)

• The number of elements in each layer.

• The total number of layers.

You can also use the Layer Depths Table option to specify a different element size for each layer.

The software generates a spot weld Mesh Control when:

• The selected mesh point location lies in the interior of a face and not along the outer boundary of the face.

• The distance between the selected mesh point and the outer boundary of the face is greater than the specified Radius of Influence value.
