Convection dialog box (ANSYS)

Type
Type Controls how the convection is applied.Free Convection on Face: Defines convection either on a polygon face or on the faces of selected elements.Free Convection on 2D Element Face: Defines convection on the faces of selected 2D elements.Free Convection on Edge: Defines convection either on a polygon edge in the model or on the edges of selected elements.
Destination Folder
Constraint Container Specifies the folder in the Simulation Navigator in which the boundary condition will be stored. The list includes the root container and existing folders that you created using the New Folder command. Examples of a root container include Load Container, Constraint Container, and Simulation Object Container.
Folder Manager Displays a hierarchical listing of existing folders. To create a new folder, right-click any level of the hierarchy and choose New Folder.
Model Objects
Group Reference Lets you apply the constraint to a group. For more information, see Group Reference options.
Select Object Lets you select the geometry or FE entities on which the constraint will be applied. Use the Excluded options to remove individual entities, such as elements, from your selection.
Stacked Smart Selector Methods Opens the Smart Selector Methods dialog box where you can specify a progression of smart selection filters. For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box.
Properties
Ambient Temperature Specifies the value of the temperature surrounding the selected geometry. For more information, see Additional magnitude options.
Convection Coefficient Specifies the value of the convection coefficient for the selected geometry.
Face Direction If you select Free Convection on 2D Element Face from the Type list, controls the side of the element to which the software applies the convection.Select Top to apply the convection to the top face (positive element normal direction) of the element.Select Bottom to apply the convection to the bottom face (negative element normal direction) of the element.
SURF151 or SURF152
Automatic Creation of Surface Effect Elements Controls how the software applies the convection.Select the Automatic Creation of Surface Effect Elements check box if you want to apply the convection to surface effect elements instead of directly to the model’s structural elements. If you select this option, the software automatically creates either SURF151 or SURF152 elements in your ANSYS input file when you export or solve your model.Clear the Automatic Creation of Surface Effect Elements check box if you want to apply the convection directly to the structural elements.
Keyopts Lets you specify the appropriate SURF151 ET or SURF152 ET modeling object.
Real Constants Lets you specify the appropriate SURF151 Real Constants or SURF152 Real Constants modeling object.
FLUID116
Connect to FLUID116 Elements Select this option to transfer the convection between the SURF151 or SURF152 elements and FLUID116 (fluid network elements).
Group of Nodes from FLUID116 Lets you select or create a group that contains the nodes on the FLUID116 elements that you want to connect to the SURF151 or SURF152 elements.
Card Name Displays the name of the corresponding ANSYS command.
