Manage notes

Make sure that the appropriate file is the work part before you try to manage any notes. For example, if you created a note when the FEM file was the work part, you cannot edit or delete that note when the Simulation file is the work part.

For information about using the Note Manager dialog box to create a new note, see Create a note.

  1. Choose Home tab→Utilities group→Note Manager .

  2. (Optional) To limit the list of notes to those that exist in a particular folder, select the Filter check box and then select the folder from the Folder list.If you have not created any notes yet for the current work part, the folder list is empty. If you have created notes but did not add them to a manually created folder, they appear in the ROOT folder.

  3. In the Note list table, select the note that you want to show, hide, edit, delete, or move to another folder. You can show, hide, move, or delete multiple notes simultaneously.Note: If the Simulation file is the work part and the note is associated with the FEM file, the note text is followed by two colons (::) and the FEM file name. If you cannot see this information, hover over the note to display the complete text and file name. You can only show or hide these notes. To edit, delete, or move them to a different folder, you must close the Note Manager dialog box, make the FEM file the work part, and then access the Note Manager dialog box again.

  4. Right-click the note and choose one of the following commands:Show—Display the note in the graphics window.Hide—Hide the note in the graphics window.Edit—Open the Note dialog box so that you can change the content or format of the note.Delete—Delete the note.Move to Folder—Display the Move Note to Folder group so that you can specify the folder to use for the note.

  5. If you chose the Move to Folder command, in the Move Note to Folder group, do one of the following:To move the note to a new folder, click Create New and type a name for the folder in the Enter Folder Name box.To move the note to an existing folder, click Add to Existing and then select the folder from the Folder Name list.If no folders have been created, only ROOT appears in this list.Note: Folders are associated with the current work part. For example, if you created a folder when the Simulation file was the work part, that folder does not appear in this list when the FEM file is the work part. Then click Move Note.If the list of notes is filtered, moving the selected note to a different folder causes it to disappear from the list.

  6. Click Close.
