FE Model Correlation and Update > Test model solution

Test solution

The test solution contains the experimental results imported from Universal files (preferred) or from Simcenter Testlab files. In addition to the test geometry, you can import:

  • The mode shapes, operational shapes, and frequency response functions (FRFs) of the structural experimental model.

  • The mode shapes of the acoustic experimental model.

In this software environment, you can import a structural or an acoustic test solution when the Solver type is set to Modal Test Data. You import a test solution by specifying the following analysis and solution types:

Test solution type Analysis Type Solution Type
Structural Structural Modal Test Test Solution
Acoustic Acoustic Test Acoustic Test Solution

Supported datasets

The software lets you import the following UNV file datasets:

  • Geometry:Nodes: 15, 781, or 2411These datasets are optional to perform a correlation, but the shell element or traceline datasets are required for viewing the test model mesh:Units: 164Coordinate Systems: 18 or 2420Elements (3 and 4 node shells, beams): 2412. See Accepted element types for specific element types that the software supports.Tracelines: 82, 2431, or 2416

  • Shapes: 55 or 2414. Analysis types:Mode Shapes: 2 or 0 (for dataset 55 only)Operational Shapes: 5Data types:Displacements: 8Accelerations: 12Velocities: 11Pressure: Any scalar data is interpreted as pressure, regardless of data type.Note: When you import a structural test model and the Mode Shapes in the Global Coordinate System check box is selected, the software assumes that the mode shapes are defined in the global coordinate system, even if local coordinate systems are assigned to the nodes. When the Mode Shapes in the Global Coordinate System check box is not selected, the software processes the mode shapes in the local reference coordinate system. This is the default behavior when importing LMS files. The LMS file format is only supported for the Structural Modal Test type.

  • FRFs: 58

Test data units

When you import test data from one or more UNV files, you can specify the unit system separately for each files.

The UNV File Units list lets you specify the desired unit system. Automatic sets the units to those indicated in the Universal File Dataset 164. The ability to specify the unit system to a unit type different than Automatic is useful when the 164 dataset is either missing or incorrect in your UNV file.

When you import test data from a LMS file, the unit system is always set to the unit system defined in the LMS file.
