Synchronization of data sources
When you open data sources, the files are not locked and another application, such as Motion or a spreadsheet editor, can edit them. For example, if you open Motion results (.mres) or .csv files as data sources, Motion or a spreadsheet editor can edit the associated files. You can set the software to periodically check the status of data sources and display indicators in the Scenario-based Data Visualization Navigator about the state of the data source as shown in the table. By default, the software does not check the status of data sources. You must use the Customer Defaults dialog box to turn on status checking.
| The indicator | Appears when the data source |
|---|---|
| Valid | |
| Edited | |
| Currently being editedNote: If the data source is being edited, wait for the editing to complete and the Edited icon to appear. Do not refresh the data source or any post-processing scenarios based on it until the editing is complete. | |
| Moved, deleted, or renamed |
If data sources are being edited, wait for all the processes to finish. Then, refresh or edit the data sources depending on their state.
To update the data source to the latest version, click the Refresh Data Sources button at the bottom of the Scenario Based Data-Visualization Navigator.
If the data source has been moved, deleted, or renamed, to find a new file for the data source, right-click the data source, and choose Edit.
For more information about updating a data source, see Manage data sources.
Use the Display Data Source Status check box in the Customer Defaults dialog box to set status checking of results file.
Choose File→Utilities→Customer Defaults.
In the Customer Defaults dialog box, select Simulation→Post Processor→Scenario-based Post Processing.
Select the Display Data Source Status check box.
Click OK.
