Model an electrical network
To study how electrical current in an electrical network affects temperature distribution in your model, you need to define at least two Joule Heating simulation objects in your model. One Joule Heating simulation object must be a Voltage type object and the other must be either a Voltage type object or a Current type object.
The elements that form the electrical network must have the electrical resistivity material property defined in ohm-meters.
Choose Home tab→Loads and Conditions group→Joule Heating .
In the Joule Heating dialog box, in the Type group, select the Voltage from the list.
Specify the elements that are a voltage source.
Specify a constant value, or a value dependent on time, temperature, heat flow rate, or thermal capacitance for the Voltage object.
Repeat steps 1 to 4 to specify a second set of elements with another voltage source or with a voltage differential. If you specify a voltage differential, do the following:In step 2, select Current instead of Voltage. In step 4, specify the values for the Current object.
