Find dialog box

The software searches either rows or columns that you select, or the entire table list.

  • To select a contiguous set of rows or columns, click the first row or column and then hold Shift as you click the last row or column.

  • To select a non-contiguous set of rows or columns, hold Ctrl as you click each row or column.

  • To clear your selection, hold Ctrl and click the rows or columns that you want to deselect.

Settings
Type list Selects whether to search on a text string, an integer, or a real number. Depending on the rows or columns that are selected in the table list, all three options may not be available.
Search criterion list Selects the search criterion.For example, suppose you select String from the type list and Equals from the search criterion list, the software finds exact matches of the string you type in the search value box.
Search value box Sets the text string, integer, or real number for which you want to search.
Opens another set of search criteria options.
Closes the corresponding search criteria options.
Highlighted Area Highlights only the matches in the selected rows or columns from which you are searching.
Entire Table Highlights all the matches in the table list.
Previous Next Available when the search finds multiple matches.Steps through the matches one match at a time.
First Last Available when the search finds multiple matches.Goes to the topmost or bottommost match in a column or goes to the leftmost or rightmost match in a row.
Highlight All Highlights all of the matches.Clear the check box so you can highlight the matches one by one using Previous and Next .
By Rows****By Columns Specifies the direction of the Previous , Next , First , and Last controls.
