The strain-life analysis in Specialist Durability

Strain-life approach for load histories

  1. Calculate single amplitude damage parameter life-curve (from material and solution parameters).

  2. Prepare load-notch strain relation.

  3. Construct local load history.

  4. Simulate local stress vs. local strain trajectory for the full load history.

  5. Identify loops in the local stress vs. local strain trajectory.

  6. Accumulate damage for the first run through the time history.

  7. Simulate local stress vs. local strain trajectory for the second run through the load history.

  8. Identify loops in the local stress vs. local strain trajectory.

  9. Accumulate damage for the second run through the time history.

  10. Sum up damage.
