Getting started
Edit the attributes for multiple selected entities
For some entities, such as meshes, you can edit the attributes of multiple entities in one action. In dialog boxes that support this editing mode, when you select and edit multiple entities, you see these icons next to each attribute:
No Change – Mixed Values—Indicates that the values currently defined for this attribute are different for two or more of the selected entities.
No Change – Equal Values—Indicates that the values currently defined for this attribute are the same for all the selected entities.
Apply an attribute from one entity to all selected entities
You can change one or more attributes of all selected entities to match the attributes of one of the selected entities.
Suppose you have three solution subcases that each use a different output request:
| Subcase | Output request |
|---|---|
| subcase_1 | output_request_A |
| subcase_2 | output_request_B |
| subcase_3 | output_request_C |
You want to update all three subcases to use the output request that is assigned to subcase_1 (output_request_A).
In the Simulation Navigator, select the first subcase, subcase_1.
Hold the Ctrl key and select the other two subcases, subcase_2 and subcase_3.
Right-click subcase_1 and choose Edit.In the Solution Step dialog box, the No Change – Mixed Value button appears next to the Output Requests option because the three subcases use different output requests. The drop-down list for the attribute shows the value for the entity that you edited. In this example, because you edited subcase_1, the Output Requests drop-down list shows the output request assigned to subcase_1, output_request_A.
Click No Change – Mixed Values next to the Output Requests option and select Apply Changes .The button changes to .
Click OK or Apply to apply the changes to the selected subcases. The output_request_A is now assigned to all three subcases.SubcaseOutput requestsubcase_1output_request_Asubcase_2output_request_Asubcase_3output_request_A
Apply a new attribute to all selected entities
Suppose you have five meshes, and you want to specify a material orientation angle of 15 degrees in the mesh associated data for each of the meshes.
In the Simulation Navigator, select each of the five meshes (hold the Ctrl key and select each mesh).
Right-click one of the selected meshes and choose Edit Mesh Associated Data.
In the Orientation Angle box, enter the new value to apply to all the selected meshes. For this example, enter 15.
Click the button next to Orientation Angle list and select Apply Change. The button changes to .This action applies the 15-degree angle to the material orientation of all the selected meshes.
Click OK or Apply to apply the change to the selected meshes.
