Mapping workflow (Simcenter Samcef)

Step	Summary
1.	Define source mapping zones in the Simcenter Samcef thermal model.	In your Simcenter Samcef thermal model, define the Group of elements that will be source mapping zones in the Mapping solution.
2.	Solve the Simcenter Samcef thermal model.	Solve the Simcenter Samcef thermal solution that will output the .des/.fac Simcenter Samcef results files that contains all the thermal results.
3.	Open an existing Simcenter Samcef structural model or create a new one.	Create a new model using the Simcenter Samcef SIM template. Set the Solver to Samcef and set the Analysis Type to Structural.
4.	Create the mapping solution.	In your Simcenter Samcef structural model, set the Solution Type to Mapping. In the Mapping solution, General page, select the Simcenter Samcef .des result file. Click Create Thermal group Name(s) to fetch all the Groups of elements defined in the thermal solution and save them as modeling objects in the mapping solution.For more information, see Thermal groups in Simcenter Samcef mapping solution.
5.	Define target mapping zones.	Create Mapping Target Set for Mechanical Nodes and/or Mapping Target Set for Mechanical Elements constraints to map the thermal groups onto a selection of nodes or elements of the mechanical model.For more information, see Mapping target set (Simcenter Samcef).
6.	Solve the mapping solution.	Solve the mapping solution: a _it3.txt file is generated.View the mapping results.For more information on the _it3.txt file, see Mapping results text file (Simcenter Samcef).
7.	Use the mapping results in a new Simcenter Samcef structural solution.	In a new Simcenter Samcef structural solution defined in the same struSimcenter Samcef ctural model, in the Chaining page, chain this new solution with the mapping results. These results become thermal loads for the current solution.For more information, see Chain a new structural solution with a mapping solution (Simcenter Samcef).
8.	Complete the Simcenter Samcef structural solution.	Complete your Simcenter Samcef structural model, solve it, and post-process the results.
