Selection recipes in alternate representations

Selection recipe names and their content are preserved for FEMs, assembly FEMs, Simulation files and alternate representations in order to maintain the connections or boundary conditions across all simulations.

When you switch from the base FEM to an alternate representation, the selection recipes are preserved, maintaining any connections or boundary conditions. When you switch the alternate representation back to the base FEM, the original selection recipe is maintained.

Optionally, you can edit the selection recipes to connect to alternate representation nodes. This is useful when you use alternate representations of FEMs, such as superelements, Mode Sets, FRF Sets, ATV Sets, or VATV Sets.

When you use superelement alternate representations, only Single Label strategy selection recipes are preserved. These are resolved to a single superelement boundary node. You cannot edit this mapping.

You can:

• Use a selection recipe when creating Universal Connections between FEMs in an assembly FEM.

• Reuse the selection recipes when switching from a base FEM to an alternate representation.

• Keep all selection recipe contents and names up to date when switching from an alternate representation back to a base FEM.

• Keep the selection recipe contents and names up to date when switching from one alternate representation to another, such as from one mode set to another, or from a mode set to an FRF set.

• Edit the selection recipe mapping using the Edit Selection Recipes Mapping, which controls selection recipe usage, mapping, and status.

In the Simulation Navigator the selection recipes are listed in the Selection Recipes collector. Each selection recipe name is pre-pended to the component FEM name, separated by double colons (::).
