Acoustics and vibro-acoustics > Simcenter Nastran FEM acoustics > Vibro-acoustic transfer vector (VATV) models
Replace different FEM files with an ATV set or VATV set
You can replace:
A FEM, component, or assembly FEM file that contains an acoustic domain mesh with an acoustic transfer vector (ATV) set.
A FEM or assembly FEM file that contains a vibro-acoustic domain with a vibro-acoustic transfer vector (VATV) set.
You can select an existing set from the ATV sets or VATV sets folder in the Simulation Navigator, or you can create a new set by selecting a data source from a solution result or from an external .op2 file.
In the Simulation Navigator, right-click a FEM, component, or assembly FEM and choose Edit Representation. To select a component FEM make the assembly FEM file the work or displayed part.
From the Representation list, select the type of set that you want to replace the FEM with.
Do one of the following depending on whether you want to use an existing set or create a new one:To use an existing ATV or VATV set, select it from the list and continue with the next step.To create a set from a solution result in the Simulation Navigator, click Create FEM Data Set and do the following:Note: You must have an existing xxx_atv.op2 or xxx_vatv.op2 file In the Name box, type a unique name for the set. Click Solution Result.Select a solution from the list.Only solutions with existing results files appear in the list. Click OK.To create a set from an external .op2 file, click Create FEM Data Set and do the following. In the Name box, type a unique name for the set. Enter an existing file path and name or Browse to navigate to the file that contains the results. For an ATV set, you use a Simcenter Nastran simulation_file_name-solution_nameatv.op2 result file from SOL 108 Acoustic Transfer Vector. For a VATV set, you use a Simcenter Nastran simulation_file_name-solution_name-_vatv.op2 result file from SOL 108 Vibro-Acoustic Transfer Vector or SOL 111 Vibro-Acoustic Transfer Vector.Click OK.
In the Graphical Representation group, choose how to display the set.The figures show the display options for an ATV.None — Does not display the original acoustic mesh.ATV displayed as None****Approximation of base FEM — Displays a mesh that approximates the original acoustic mesh. If the original mesh is empty, nothing will be displayed.ATV displayed as Approximation of base FEM****Superelement Symbol — Displays the ATV or VATV as a spider element that connects all the nodes to the center of the component.ATV displayed as Superelement SymbolIf the model contains a microphone mesh that envelopes the entire fluid domain, you may need to suppress the display of part of the microphone mesh using Hide or Clip Section to display the ATV or VATV.
If you changed the ATV or VATV set, select the Regenerate the FEM approximation check box to incorporate the new topology.
In the FE Model Component Representation dialog box, click OK.
