Convert CCM to CGNS format

  1. On your Windows 64-bit operating system, search in the %UGII_BASE_DIR%\Simulation\PreSolver\bin folder for the ccmtocgns.exe file.If you cannot find the folder that contains the ccmtocgns.exe, libifcoremd.dll, and libmmd.dll files, contact Customer Support for information on how to locate them.

  2. Open a command prompt window.

  3. Open the folder where your CCM file that contains the model and results is located.

  4. Drag and drop the ccmtocgns.exe into the command prompt window.You can also execute the translator from your own favorite folder as long it contains the ccmtocgns.exe, libifcoremd.dll, and libmmd.dll files.

  5. Enter the CCM file name and press Enter.If the file does not exist, the command prompt window closes automatically, and you must repeat the previous steps.

  6. Enter the data type that you want to convert.1 For pressure loading and distributed surface dipole source modeling.Note: If the pressure loading is provided as static, absolute, or acoustic pressure, you also choose 1.2 For distributed volume quadrupole source modeling.3 For steady volume flow information for local speed of sound computation.4 For acoustic pressure loading exported from Simcenter STAR-CCM+ APE solver.

  7. Enter the number of result files and press Enter.

  8. If the CCM file does not contain the time step value, enter a value, and press Enter.The converter generates a CGNS file with the name string:_mesh.cgns that contains a mesh and the coordinates of the CFD centroids.envelope.cgns that contains the CFD envelope mesh for visualization purpose.number in sequential order.cgns that contains the CFD data to be imported in Simcenter 3D.Note: Each numbered file corresponds to a different time step.When you use the Model and Load Pre-processing solution process to import the data into Simcenter 3D, select the first time step file that you want to import. The software imports the next time steps and mesh automatically.
