Migrating existing NX data to latest version
NX 4 introduced a new file structure for storing simulation data. When migrating data from previous releases of the software, you need to be aware of how the older data structure maps to the new structure. Most notably, a single motion, scenario, or combination file from a pre-NX 4 release will result in the creation of multiple, related files in the latest version of the software. The topics in this section discuss how data is broken into multiple files, and also provides some general guidelines and caveats to follow when migrating data.
Note:
For information about migrating motion data, see Migrating Motion Data in the Motion Help.
Migrating connection meshes from earlier versions of NX
NX 6 introduced a new architecture for creating and managing 1D connection meshes and edge-face connections. In most cases, migration will be seamless; however, you should be aware of the following:
1D meshes defined between geometric entities are migrated to 1D Connection meshes. You can edit these meshes like any other 1D connection mesh. Note however that 1D connections are recipe-based, and the migrated connection mesh may have a different number of elements than the pre-NX 6 1D mesh, depending on the number of nodes on the meshes being connected.
Edge-face connections created in earlier versions of NX using the Glue option are migrated to 1D connection meshes. If you are using the Nastran solver, when you first open the migrated data, the FEM will require an update. When you update the FEM, the software then generates the resulting RBE2 and RBE3 meshes to define the edge-face connection.
Edge-face connections created in earlier versions of NX using the Match option are migrated seamlessly; however, you will not be able to edit the resulting connection mesh.
