Graph a single result across FE entities

You must have set up a post view of the results you want to graph and set the color display to contour plot.

  1. In the Post Processing Navigator, right-click the post view and choose New Graph .

  2. From the Type list, select On Path.

  3. Define the X-axis. To plot results values againstDo the following Node or element labelsIn the X Axis group, from the Define By list, select IDs.The length of the path in model unitsIn the X Axis group, from the Define By list, select Path Length. The distance along a specified vectorIn the X Axis group, from the Define By list, select Length Along Direction. Click Select Vector to specify a vector.Coordinates along a selected coordinate system axisChoose Coordinate Value Of CSYS Axis to plot result values against coordinates along a selected coordinate system axis. Click Select CSYS to specify a coordinate system, and then, from the Select CSYS Axis list, select an axis.

  4. Define the Y-axis. To define the Y-axis byDo the followingExtracting values along a query curveIn the Y Axis group, select the Define By Query Curve check box. From the Curve Name list, select a query curve or click New to create a new query curve.(Optional) To reverse the direction of the query curve, click Reverse Direction .Tip: To view the entities of the query curve, click the Preview check box. For more information about creating and using query curves, see Create query curves and Use a query curve.Selecting directly from the modelIn the Y Axis group, clear the Define By Query Curve check box. (Optional) Use the Boolean options to set how to handle multiple selections. In the Select Entities group, from the Method list, choose Pick from Model. From the Pick list, choose a selection method, and select entities in the graphics region.(Optional) Select the Sequential Selection check box and the Include Intersections check box to interpolate values where the predefined path intersects element edges.Entering entity IDsIn the Y Axis group, clear the Define By Query Curve check box. In the Select Entities group, from the Method list, select By Entity ID. Type labels in the Entity Label box, and click for each label you enter.Entering entity groupsIn the Y Axis group, clear the Define By Query Curve check box. In the Select Entities group, from the Method list, select Entities in Group. From the Group list, select a predefined group and click .Interactively selecting points on feature edges or facesIn the Y Axis group, clear the Define By Query Curve check box. In the Select Entities group, from the Method list, select Inferred Point. Select points on feature edges or faces.

  5. If your model include results in complex format, in the Complex Options group, choose a plot type from the Complex Plot Types list. For more information about complex plot types, see Complex plot options.

  6. Click OK.

  7. If the Viewport dialog bar appears:To display the graph in the Graphics region, click Select Viewport by Cursor and click a viewport. To display the graph in a separate graph window, click Create New Window .
