Thermal membrane (Simcenter Samcef)

This membrane exists as a linear or quadratic triangle and quadrangle.

This membrane has two faces. In a load or a constraint, you can use the Position (FACE) property to select either the top or the bottom of the support to be loaded or constrained.

The normal (perpendicular) to the element establishes its top and bottom. For more details on displaying normals, see Checking and orienting the normals of 2D elements.
