Solve the geometry optimization

  1. In the Simulation Navigator, right-click your optimization solution process and choose Solve. As the iterations are calculated, the results are displayed in an Excel spreadsheet graph. When the calculations are complete, a spreadsheet displays a summary of the calculated values at each iteration. The solve can take several minutes, as the software optimizes the part. Caution: Do not close the spreadsheet until the solve is finished.Do not attempt to modify a model while an optimization solve is in progress.

  2. When the solve is finished, examine the spreadsheet.Tip: To reopen the saved spreadsheet, in the Simulation Navigator, right-click the optimization solution process and select Optimization Spreadsheet or Sensitivity Spreadsheet. The Sensitivity Spreadsheet is available only if you solved a global sensitivity study.

Optimizer

When an Optimizer solve is finished, the model will be in the final iteration state. The optimization makes changes to your master part file, FEM file and Simulation file, or your idealized part file depending on the design variables that you defined. For more information, see Part files modified by Geometry Optimization.

Note:

To keep the model in the optimized state, you must save it. When you save the model in Pre/Post, the FEM and Simulation files are saved, but the master part is not saved. If the optimization modified the master part, and you want to retain those changes, you must switch to the Gateway or Modeling application and save the master part file.

Global Sensitivity

When a Global Sensitivity solve is finished, the model is returned to its original state.
