Modal analysis

Modal analysis determines the natural frequencies and the corresponding mode shapes for a structure.

Supported modal environments

Pre/Post supports the following solution types that involve modal analysis:

  • NX or MSC Nastran: SOL 103 Real EigenvaluesSOL 103 Response Dynamics (Simcenter Nastran) — Lets you evaluate the responses of a structure subjected to various static and dynamic excitations. Response Dynamics is a full-featured add-on for defining solution processes with the user interface. For more information, see Simcenter 3D Response Dynamics.SOL 103 Superelement (Simcenter Nastran or MSC Nastran) — Lets you create an external superelement. For more information, see Superelement analysis.SOL 103 Flexible Body (Simcenter Nastran) — Lets you export model data to Motion to represent a flexible body in a mechanism. For more information, see Flexible body analysis. Also lets you export modal data directly to RecurDyn and Adams multi-body dynamics software.SOL 107 Direct Complex EigenvaluesSOL 110 Modal Complex EigenvaluesSOL 111 Modal Frequency ResponseSOL 112 Modal Transient Response
