Pressure Penetration dialog box (Abaqus)

The Pressure Penetration dialog box corresponds to the Abaqus *PRESSURE PENETRATION keyword. For more information, see *PRESSURE PENETRATION in the Abaqus Keywords Guide.

Name
Name Sets the name of the simulation object.
Description Enter a brief description or click to open a text editor where you can enter a longer description.
Destination Folder
Simulation Object Container Specifies the folder in the Simulation Navigator in which the boundary condition will be stored. The list includes the root container and existing folders that you created using the New Folder command. Examples of a root container include Load Container, Constraint Container, and Simulation Object Container.
Folder Manager Displays a hierarchical listing of existing folders. To create a new folder, right-click any level of the hierarchy and choose New Folder.
Exposed Master Surface/Exposed Slave Surface
Group Reference Lets you select a group as the nodes on the master or slave surface that are exposed to fluid. For more information, see Group Reference options.
Select Object Lets you select the nodes on the master or slave surface that are exposed to the fluid. For axisymmetric models, specify one node. For three-dimensional models, specify any number of nodes. You can also specify no nodes. Specifying no nodes is required if the master surface is a rigid surface.
Stacked Smart Selector Methods Opens the Smart Selector Methods dialog box where you can specify a progression of smart selection filters. For more information, see Smart Selector Methods dialog box.
Contacting Master Surface/Contacting Slave Surface
Master Surface/Slave Surface Lets you select the Region that defines the contacting (master) and contacted (slave) surface in the contact pair. The master face defines the direction for the contacts that get created.Note: The master and the slave surfaces must contain the same type of entity (that is, faces, element faces, and so on).Select an existing region from the Master Surface or Slave Surface list or click New Region to create a new region. See Region dialog box.
Swap Regions
Reverses the master and slave surfaces.
Properties
Wetted Front Lets you specify how the fluid pressure loading is applied:NODEApplies fluid pressure loading to the wetted region until the front penetrated node.MID-ELEMENTRamps fluid pressure loading down and applies it to the unwetted front element region beyond the front penetrated node.Wetted Front corresponds to the WETTED FRONT parameter of the *PENETRATION PRESSURE keyword.
Penetration Time Specifies the time it takes for the fluid pressure on the penetrated contact surfaces to reach the current magnitude.Penetration Time corresponds to the PENETRATION TIME parameter of the *PENETRATION PRESSURE keyword.
Fluid Pressure Specifies the fluid pressure magnitude. You can use a field to define the variation of the pressure. Fluid Pressure corresponds to the AMPLITUDE parameter of the *PENETRATION PRESSURE keyword.
Critical Contact Pressure Specifies the critical contact pressure below which fluid penetration starts to occur. The higher the value, the easier the fluid penetrates. A value of zero indicates that fluid penetration occurs only if contact is lost. For more information, see Pressure penetration loading with surface-based contact in the Abaqus Analysis Guide.
