User defined seam weld fine models

You can customize the seam weld fine model selection by creating a custom XML file that defines the seam weld selection criteria and the related seam weld matrices. This file uses the same syntax as the SeamWeldConfiguration.xml file that is included with Simcenter 3D. The software merges your custom XML file with the SeamWeldConfiguration.xml to define the selection criteria.

Properties

The custom XML file introduces new properties that can be used for selecting and configuring the fine models.

You can include existing seam weld properties in the custom XML file by appending ref to the property name. For example, to include the finish property, add finishref to your custom XML file.

You can define new properties in a top-level XML element named . For each property, you can specify the name that identifies the property in the custom XML file and the simobjectname that will appear inside the simulation object type, as the example below shows. If you specify only the name, that name will also be used as the property name inside the simulation object type.

<propertylist>    <property name="lowerradius" simobjectname="Radius1" />    <property name="lowerangle" simobjectname="Angle1" />    <property name="upperradius" simobjectname="Radius2" />    <property name="upperangle" simobjectname="Angle2" /></propertylist>

XML elements

You must create the following elements in your custom XML file:

  • SeamweldSubtypeList that contains one or more SeamweldSubtype elementsNote: The element in the SeamWeldConfiguration.xml file lists the existing seam weld types. You must base new subtypes in the custom XML file on existing weld types for the Auto-detect Seam Welds command to detect seam welds of your new type. The example below shows a new weld subtype based on the Y-Joint type of seam weld.

  • SeamweldMatrixListthat contains one or more SeamweldMatrix elementsNote: You must save the matrix data files referenced by the attribute Matrix inside the SeamweldMatrix element in the same directory as the custom XML file.

  • SeamweldCrossSectionListthat contains one or more SeamwedlCrossSection elements
