Contact MPP Cards dialog box (LS-DYNA)
Use these options to define MPP (Massively Parallel Processing) options for *CONTACT_ keyword.
| Name | Defines the name of the modeling object. |
|---|---|
| Label | Specifies a unique numerical identifier for the modeling object. |
| Properties | |
| MPP Card 1 | |
| Ignore initial penetrations (IGNORE) | Controls whether the software ignores any initial penetrations. |
| Bucket sort frequency (BCKT) | Lets you specify the number of cycles for the bucket sort frequency for MPP contact.Bucket sorting is an effective method of contact searching to identify potential master contact segments for any given slave node. In general, because bucket sorting is computationally intensive, you should limit the number of bucket sorts to reduce the overall solve time. |
| Load curve for bucket sort frequency (LCBCKT) | Lets you specify a DEFINE_CURVE modeling object that defines the load curve that controls the bucket sort frequency. Select an existing curve from the list or click Create Modeling Object to create a new curve. For more information, see Defining XY data for LS-DYNA solutions. |
| Number of potential contacts to track for each slave node (NS2TRK) | Lets you specify the number of potential contacts that you want LS-DYNA to track for each slave node. |
| Number of iterations to eliminate initial penetrations (INITITER) | Lets you specify the number of iterations that LS-DYNA should perform to eliminate any initial penetrations. |
| The parametric extension distance (PARMAX) | Specifies the parametric extension distance for contact segments. |
| Flag for CONTACT_AUTOMATIC_GENERAL behavior (CPARM8) | For *CONTACT_AUTOMATIC_GENERAL contact, lets you exclude beam-to-beam contact from the same part. |
| MPP Card 2 | |
| Special check at time 0 for inverted elements (CHKSEGS) | For surface-to-surface and node-to-surface contact, controls whether the software checks the model for inverted elements and removes them from the contact definition. |
| Penetration distance multiplier (PENSF) | Specifies the value by which the software multiplies the penetration distance and then pushes a penetrating node out against the surface. In general, you should specify a value between 0.98 and 0.99 . This value should always be less than 1. |
| Invoke an alternative MPP communication algorithm (GRPABLE) | Controls whether the software uses the “groupable” contact algorithm, which can improve computational efficiency when there are many contact definitions in the model. |
