Define a stacking sequence using Paste

Use right-click → Paste to create one new ply for each ply that is in the clipboard. The plies created by the Paste command are identical to the copied plies in terms of order, thickness, materials, and orientation angles.

The illustration below shows how to use the command Create New Ply , Group , right-click → Copy and right-click → Paste to define a stacking sequence:

  • A = Ply Group 1In the Ply Layup tab, click Create New Ply .Set the Color to green.In the ply table, right-click → Copy then right-click → Paste twice.Control-click all three plies and click Group .

  • B = Ply Group 2In the Ply Layup tab, click Create New Ply .Set the Color to yellow and set the Angle to 90 degrees.In the ply table, right-click → Copy then right-click → Paste.Control-click the two plies and click Group .

  • C = Ply Group 3In the Ply Layup tab, click Create New Ply .Set the Color to red and set the Angle to 45 degrees.

  • D = Ply Group 4In the Ply Layup tab, click Create New Ply .Set the Color to blue and set the Angle to -45 degrees.In the ply table, right-click → Copy, then right-click → Paste twice.Control-click all three plies and click Group .

  • E = Child groups 5, 6, 7 and 8In the ply table, use shift-click or control-click to select groups 1 through 4, right-click → Copy then right-click → Paste.

  • F = Physical representation

  • G = Representation in the Ply Sketcher tab

Note:

The plies on the bottom half of the laminate could have been copied without using Group .
